A non-display electronic typing system (ETS), such as the Xerox 800 ETS, which is equipped with a right justification mode, would normally require some means to allow the operator to assist in the line ending decision when the last word in the line contains more characters than there are spaces remaining in the justified line. When utilizing the right justification feature, an auxiliary sheet or partial sheet of paper is required to be inserted at the right end portion of the platen for print output thereon. This insertion and subsequent removal of the auxiliary paper is an interruptive procedure that slows the typing operation.
