Abstract

Paper feed rolls frequently become contaminated with dust, paper fibers and other debris after periods of operation which alter the frictional relationship thereby resulting in sheet feeding difficulties. The illustrated device may be used to periodically clean the paper feed wheels. The cleaner consists of a rigid or semi-rigid sheet of material 10 which has about the same outside dimensions as paper which is normally fed into the machine. Mounted on the sheet are foil enclosed cleaning pads 14 containing cleaning fluid such as soap and water. The cleaning pads are positioned on the sheet 10 to contact the feed wheels of the sheet feeder when the card is inserted into the machine. To use the cleaner, the operator removes the foil thereby exposing the cleaning pad and inserts the sheet into the machine in the same way paper is loaded. The feed wheels are activated and rotate against the cleaning pad, cleaning the rolls. After the rolls have been cleaned, the cleaner is removed and discarded.
