Abstract

A high frequency voltage supplying circuit 1 for energizing a dlcorotron wire 2 similar to the dicorotron disclosed in U.S. Patent No. 4,086,650 to Davis et al. The alternating current wire potential is derived from a DC shield potential source 3 and obviates the need for the use of a high voltage transformer. The circuit 1 includes a high voltage vacuum tube 4 of a type 6BK4 or its equivalent. The vacuum tube 4 is of a type used as a high voltage regulator in circuits of color television receivers and is used in the present configuration as a high voltage amplifier. A low voltage alternating current signal is applied to the grid 5 of the tube 4 by a high frequency generator 6. The tube plate 7 produces an amplified high voltage alternating current signal on the order of the potential supplied to the shield by the shield source 3 and is transmitted to the wire 2 through a coupling capacitor 8 which prevents the transmittal of any direct voltage current to the wire. Accordingly, the capacitance of the capacitor 8 should be chosen to be much larger than the capacitance of the dicorotron. An inductor 9 is used to increase the efficiency of the circuit and should be chosen to reasonate in combination with the capacitance of the dlcorotron at the frequency of circuit operation.
