Abstract

An interface material employed to block hole injection in a system employing a conductive substrate, a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer. The interface material is positioned between the conductive substrate and either the charge generation layer or the charge transport layer depending upon which of the two is closest to the substrate. The interface consists of a double layer structure comprising layer 1, a homogeneous blend of poly(viny1 alcohol) with an alternating copolymer of vinyl methyl ether and maleic anhydride, partially hydrolyzed and layer 2, of poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone).
