Abstract

Partial multiplicative screening is achieved by inserting a half-tone screen 10 in the main document image plane above photoreceptor 12. Document 14 is supported on a transparent platen 16 which is illuminated by light sources 18. The light rays reflected from the original document are transmitted through lens 20 and focused onto photoreceptor 12. A portion of these light rays pass through half-tone screen 10. Additive screening is achieved by light source 22 illuminating a portion of half-tone screen 10 prior to or subsequent to focusing the document on photoreceptor 12. Light source 22 transmits light rays through screen 10 onto photoreceptor 12. Baffles 24 isolate light source 22 from the main imaging system.
