DIELECTRIC ENERGY EFFICIENT PAPER Classification Proposed Christopher Snelling U.S.Cl. 346/ 153

There is increasing concern over the high energy consumption of copiers/- duplicators, primarily fusing energy, as well as interest in the enticing unit manufacturing cost, service cost, and copy quality maintainability advantages afforded by simplified imaging systems which use paper.

The proposal here is to combine in a single paper properties which address both energy consumption and which provide the dielectric properties required by the imaging process. For example, paper could be coated with a dielectric material which acts also as a toner plasticizer to facilitate fusing and reduce energy consumption. Paper of this type would be a candidate for a low energy heat fixing system such as - Transfer of - Electrostatic

- - Images (TESI).

The concept is not restricted to only imaging systems but rather applies to any of the various processes in which a latent charge pattern is created in the final paper support itself. Other examples are electrographic stylus and ion projection sys tem s.
