Abstract

In order to dispense toner particles from a hopper, a helical shaped auger is frequently employed. Heretofore, the helical configuration of the auger did not provide for uniform positive dispensing of toner particles from the hopper. As shown in the drawing, auger 10 has a minor diameter which increases in direct proportion to the distance that the auger is from the toner hopper. This produces a positive displacement of the toner particles through the dispensing slot in the auger housing. In this way, more uniform toner dispensing is achieved.
