Abstract

This technique comprises the step of using the peripheral (X) bits of an m x n pixel matrix to address a look-up table to determine if the central (Y) bits are more or less likely. Statistical data is used to generate the tables, and the Y bits are corrected if these bits are probably incorrect. This technique can be recursive, with the window moving one position in either direction prior to the next iteration. Also, the m x n matrix can be any size.
