Abstract

This disclosure relates as shown in the figure to a compact xerographic copier 10 which utilizes a scroll photoreceptor 12 wrapped around spool 14 and a spool 16. The spools and photoreceptor are arranged such that there is room beneath the spool 16 for a supply of paper 18 and such that transfer of the developed image takes place at the bottom of the spool 14.

This disclosure relates as shown in the figure to a compact xerographic copier 10 which utilizes a scroll photoreceptor 12 wrapped around spool 14 and a spool 16. The spools and photoreceptor are arranged such that there is room beneath the spool 16 for a supply of paper 18 and such that transfer of the developed image takes place at the bottom of the spool 14.

When a reusable photoreceptor is employed, the spool 14 is designed such that the wraps of the photoreceptor do not touch to avoid toner being deposited on the back or top side of the photoreceptor. During reverse movement (i.e., from the spool 14 to spool 16) of the photoreceptor, the charge/development roll 20 can be utilized for cleaning. Exposure of the photoreceptor is accomplished by suitable fiber optics indicated at 22 which are positioned opposite the roll 20.
