Abstract

This disclosure relates to controlling the temperature of a low mass heating member. The heating member comprises the base member of a radiant fuser utilized for fusing toner images to copy substrates. The base is fabricated from a suitable bimetallic material. As the base temperatures rises, the base deforms until it contacts a high mass member to which it transfers thermal energy. The base is designed with sufficient mass and contact area to conduct heat away from the base to maintain the base at a predetermined temperature.
