Abstract

Disclosed is a process for treating steel carrier core surfaces which comprises providing a steel carrier core composition, oxidizing in an air stream the surface of the carrier core at a temperature of from about 500°F to about 1000°F, adding water to the airstream prior to accomplishing the oxidation reaction, at a partial pressure of water in access of 20 millimeters ?f mercury, thereby rDulting in carrier cores having a resistance of from about 10 ohm-cm to about 10 ohm-cm. These carrier particles can be incorporated into developer compositions and used for causing development of electrostatic latent images contained on photocon-ductive imaging members.
