Abstract

The purpose of this disclosure is to disclose a means of varying the radiant energy in the cavity of a radiant fuser to compensate for a non-desirable variation in radiant lamp energy output adjacent the ends thereof. In this instance, a higher reflectivity material (gold) is selectively plated on the ends of the reflector to increase the "cavity gain" (e.g., efficiency) of the cavity so that more energy is available at the edges of the copy for fusing. A similar result could be obtained by having an all gold surface and decreasing reflectivity (subtractive) but also increasing lamp power if required.
