Abstract

This disclosure relates to a combined release agent management (RAM) system and cleaner for a cold pressure fuser. As illustrated in the figure, the cold pressure fuser comprises a fuser roll 10 (i.e., roll that contacts image) and a backup or pressure roll 12. In order to minimize toner offset to the fuser roll and to remove any toner that does offset thereto, there is provided a combination release agent management (RAM) system and fuser roll cleaner generally indicated by reference character 14 which comprises a fibrous web member 18 supported by a supply roll 20 and a takeup roll 22. The member 18 can be impregnated with a dry release agent, for example, zinc stearate which is applied to the fuser roll as relative movement between this member and the fuser roll is effected. In the embodiment disclosed the web member is fed between a foam roll 24 and the fuser roll 10. The foam roll provides a two-fold function; it loads the web to the fuser roll, and as it turns with the web it simultaneously applies a preferably dry release agent supplied by a sump 26.
