Abstract

Disclosed is a color developer composition containing toner resin particles of, for example, a styrene n-butyl methacrylate copolymer, grafted and/or blended with a low molecular weight wax (about 2,000 to about 5,000) such as a polypropylene wax or polyethylene wax, a crosslinked terpolymer resin containing styrene, n-butyl acrylate, and acrylonitrile; and incorporated into the toner resin particles various colored pigments such as yellow, cyan, magenta, red, blue, green or other colorants. These toner particles can be mixed with carrier particles containing a steel or iron core coated with various polymeric substances including terpolymer of styrene, methyl mathacrylate, and a silane with uncoated ferrite carrier particles.

Disclosed is a color developer composition containing toner resin particles of, for example, a styrene n-butyl methacrylate copolymer, grafted and/or blended with a low molecular weight wax (about 2,000 to about 5,000) such as a polypropylene wax or polyethylene wax, a crosslinked terpolymer resin containing styrene, n-butyl acrylate, and acrylonitrile; and incorporated into the toner resin particles various colored pigments such as yellow, cyan, magenta, red, blue, green or other colorants. These toner particles can be mixed with carrier particles containing a steel or iron core coated with various polymeric substances including terpolymer of styrene, methyl mathacrylate, and a silane with uncoated ferrite carrier particles.

In one specific embodiment, the developer composition is comprised of the following specific components in the percentages indicated.

1. 66.1 weight percent of a styrene n-butyl methacrylate resin copolymer, grafted with a low molecular weight polyproplyene wax.

2. 22.5 weight percent of a styrene, butyl acrylate, acrylonitrile terpolymer crosslinked with divinyl benzene.

4. 0.8 weight percent of a 50/50 mixture of magenta pigment, such as
