Abstract

A copy handling module is disclosed that has the capability of feeding paper continuously while an operator has access to the main or auxiliary paper supply tray for replenishing purposes. The module has advantages over previous copy handling modules of providing ready access to paper trays without disrupting the feeding of paper from the tray not in use, switching automatically from one tray to another through a low paper switch signal and assuring safety of the operator that would be exposed to the machanics of the operating machine while loading paper.

In reference to the figure, a continuous running copying sequence is initiated with the main and auxiliary trays of copy handling module 16 full. After the main tray has been depleted, elevator 12 energizes low paper switch SW1 after having moved from position 1 to position 2 shown in dotted lines and automatically starts paper feeding from the auxiliary tray. Interlock switches SW3 and SW4 are adapted to allow the main feeder to be reloaded while the auxiliary feeder is operating.
