Abstract

A pressure insensitive valve is shown as being adapted to provide a plurality of valve openings by actuation of one or two solenoids. The valve 1 includes two concentric cylinders 2 and 3, the inner one 2 closely fitting into the outer one 3. The outer cylinder 3 closely fits into a valve body 4 having fluid input opening 5 and output opening 6. Each of the valve cylinders 2, 3 are provided with two pairs of straight through openings 7, 8, and 9, 10, respectively, of different sizes. A solenoid 11, working in cooperation with a spring 12 rotates the outer cylinder 3 from one valve opening position to another valve opening position 90' therefrom, thereby providing two different fluid flows through the valve. Similarly, a solenoid 13 working in cooperation with a spring 14 rotates the inner cylinder 2 to provide two different sized valve openings through the valve. With preselected energization of the solenoid 11 and 13, the pressure insensitive valve elements 2 and 3 may be positioned to provide four different sized valve openings for fluid such as air flowing through the valve.
