Abstract

Referring to the accompanying figures, the concept of a multiple jet body driven drop generator 10 is shown which consists of electrically stimulating a piezolectric material 12 which is bonded onto each drop generator body 24 resulting in an acoustic excitation within the body. Figure 1 is a partial perspective view of drop generator 10, Figure 2 is a partially sectioned elevation view of the drop generator, and Figure 3 is a cross-section view along the plane indicated in Figure 2.

Channels 16 are drilled within each of the multiple bodies 24 and through the remainder of the drop generator structure 14 to permit the flow of fluid from a reservoir (not shown) to the apertures 18 where the jets 20, represented by dashed lines, are generated. The piezoelectric driver is pulsed at a given frequency and the length and geometry of the multiple jet body drop generator is configured such that an acoustic excitation is controllably transmitted throughout each body.
