Abstract

A routine which can be implemented in software to enable copier service personnel (i.e., a Technical Representative) to verify the operation of the various switches and sensors in the copier is proposed. The routine contemplates the assignment of a code number to each copier switch and sensor. Then, when it is desired to check the operation of a particular copier switch or sensor, the code number representing that switch or sensor is entered by means of the keyboard on the copier control panel. Following entry, the control panel display reflects the logic state of the switch or sensor selected by showing either an "H" or "L" corresponding to a high or low logic level across the switch or sensor. If the selected switch or sensor is toggled, the state of the switch or sensor is continuously monitored and is updated on the display with the appropriate "H" or "L" designation.
