Abstract

The hub 1 is positioned on a shaft 2 such that an internal flange 3 on the hub engages a complementary groove 4 in the shaft. At this stage the hub fits freely over the shaft. A key 5 is then inserted between the shaft and the hub radially opposite the groove so that the flange is urged tightly into the groove to secure the hub on the flange. A radial extension 6 on the key engages an internal recess 7 in the hub to lock the key axially. The hub can be removed by releasing the end of the key, for example, with a screwdriver. For handling convenience, both the hub and the key may be molded as one piece connected with a flash.
