Abstract

A fuser roll assembly suitable for soft fuser rolls includes an aluminum cylinder 1 with ceramic end caps 2 which support steel journals 3. The ceramic end caps have a relatively low thermal conductivity and so impede heat flow to the bearings resulting in improved reliability. Polished steel reflectors 4 are incorporated inside the cylinder 1 adjacent the end caps 2 to reduce the axial temperature gradient in the vicinity of the end caps.
