It may be desirable to have the position of an inductosyn transducer read as a digital number at a high sample rate. The block diagram below allows for such digital readout.

COUNTER

Referring to this drawing, the comparator latches the contents of counter N into latch N, the contents of counter P into latch P, and the contents of counter C into latch C. The contents of latches N and P are the phases within a line pair (position within line pair) and the contents of latch C is the line pair. The phase (position) is latched at the sample rate, for example, 8333 Hz, and the position signal is provided as a parallel 16 bit digital number.
