Abstract

Figure 1 shows the block diagram of a control system having a centralized architecture using an 8085 CPU as the master control processor (MCP) and 80K of paged control ROM, expandable to 112K. An I/0 processor (IOP) which interfaces to machine inputs and outputs supports the master control processor by performing all I/O processing functions i.e., inputs scan, filtering, outputs refresh, A/D conversion, and stepper motor drive.

Figure 1 shows the block diagram of a control system having a centralized architecture using an 8085 CPU as the master control processor (MCP) and 80K of paged control ROM, expandable to 112K. An I/0 processor (IOP) which interfaces to machine inputs and outputs supports the master control processor by performing all I/O processing functions i.e., inputs scan, filtering, outputs refresh, A/D conversion, and stepper motor drive.

Dedicated function remote controllers perform functions requirmg dedicated use of a controller i.e., servo controller, control panel controller, and printer interface and controller. A serial communication controller enables communication between master control processor and dedicated function remote controllers. A 40 conductor fIat cable will be used to interface between the master control board MCB and the input/output board IOB. A 26 conductor flat cable interfaces the MC8 to the boards connected on a serial bus. All signals will be properly terminated on the MCB and the control panel interface board CPB. These two boards will be at the two ends of the serial bus.

The IOB interfaces to the finisher AC driver board (FINB) through a four conductor cable, to an auxiliary tray AC driver board (AUXTB) through a three conductor cable, and to the ESV interface board EIB through a four conductor cable. Control ROM is resrdent on the master control board.over and above the required 80K ROM, capability to easily expand it to 112K will be provided on the MCB. Moreover, chip carriers will be used to hold the ROM devices to enable easy replacement.

System reset will be distributed in a star configuration from the master control board to all the PWBA's. Over and above hardware generated reset, master control processor on MCB will also have the capability to indrvidually reset any PWB under the software control.
