Electrical noise within DC signal harnesses can be very troublesome as indicated by the use of harness-type diode and diode resistor packs at the noise source, or by use of diodes on printed wiring boards.

The diode as a noise source, that is, at the relay coil, clutch or solenoid, is generally accepted as the best method of spike suppression, keeping the electrical surge from traveling through the harness back to the driver board.

A known practice is to solder diodes to relay coils or sockets or across solenoids. However, this practice can be expensive. Another approach has been to add diode blocks where potential problems exist by using diode blocks for suppression.

It is proposed to use a clip-on insulation displacement diode and diode resistor pack. This system would require two insulation operations at assembly, to align wires in slots and to securely squeeze the hinged housing over the wire.
