Abstract

In the drawing Figure, a spring clip 3 for retaining parts such as timing pulley 4 of a copying machine implace on a shaft 5 is shown. Clip 3, which is formed from any suitable spring material such as a strip of spring steel, is generally conical in shape with each leg 6 provided with a radially outwardly projecting tang or ear 8. As will be understood, clip 3 can be squeezed together to reduce the clip outside diameter during installation.

Pulley 4 has a central bore 9 into which shaft 5 fits on assembly of pulley 4
with shaft. A pair of diametrically opposite slots or keyways 10 in bore 9 provide receptacles for legs 6 of clip 3, the width of keyways 10 being substantially equal to the width of clip 3 to provide a drive coupling

therebetween. A pair of aperture slots 13 are provided in shaft 5 adjacent the end for receipt of ears 8 of clip 3.

In use, clip 3 is first assembled with pulley 4 by inserting the clip legs 6 into bore 9, clip 3 being compressed to permit ears 8 to pass through bore 9 and allow legs 6 to slide along the keyways 10. The pulleyklip assemblage is then inserted onto the end of shaft 5, clip 3 again being compressed to allow the clip ears 8 to pass into shaft 5. The pulleykl...
