Abstract

Friction retard copy sheet feeders of the type used in copying machines typically employ a rubber feed belt and retard roll. Both will wear rubber off the surface during their life, and hence are considered to be replaceable preventive maintenance service items. The very small rubber shavings that are worn off of the feed belt and retard roll can pass through the machine processor and collect on the machine take away or registration rolls, particularly where these rolls are in line with the feed belt. Additionally, these rubber shavings can deposit at various points throughout the processor such as in the transfer and detack corotron shields, etc.

REGISTRATION ROLL CLEANER (Cont'd)

The rubber shavings, after collecting on the rubber registration rolls, will occasionally transfer to and stay with a copy sheet passing through the machine photoreceptor. There, the shavings become trapped be tween the photoreceptor and the sheet of aper being imaged. This can result in transfer

To avoid this, and referring to the drawing Figure, a cleaner pad 5 is placed against the take away rolls 6. Cleaner pad 5 is supported from the machine fame 7 by means of a bracket 8. Pad 5 serves to c...
