Abstract

In drawing Figures 1-4, an improved drive clutch 3 that is simple and inexpensive to manufacture has a pulley 5 bored out for a slip fit with a steel ring 6. Two ball bearings 7 in the bore of ring 6 permit the composite pulleyhing subassembly to rotate on shaft 8 freely. The internal diameter of pulley 5 is broached at 9 to form a tooth portion for a rectangular key 11 and elastomer pad 12 which are disposed therein side by side. Ring 6 is milled at 14 with a keyway cutter to retain key and pad 11, 12 in place on assembly of pulley 5 with ring 6.

Inner ring 6 has a pin 16 pressed into the side thereof for engagement with a slidable shaft collar 18. Collar 18 is keyed to the out ut shaft 19 and is provided with a recess 20 on its side to engage pin 16. 8 ollar 18 is movable toward and away from the composite pulleyhing subassembly to selectively engage or disengage the clutch 3.
