Abstract

Development apparatus 10 includes a sump 12 suitable for holding a supply of two component developer. A magnet assembly 14 is supported for rotation adjacent the developer in the sump. The magnet assembly includes a plurality of pole pieces 16 carried by an open frame member 18 with the pole pieces aligned such that south poles thereof are adjacent each other and the north poles are adjacent each other to thereby reduce bridging of developer which facilitates developer flow. A pair of flexible rubber blades 22 and 24 are provided for metering the developer to the desired thickness. The lead magnetic pole furnishes developer to the latent image while the trail magnetic pole scavenges the developer beads.

Not shown is a wobble plate structure which is mounted inside of the magnetic assembly 14 such that it moves therewith and serves to effect cross mixing of developer.
