Abstract

By texturizing the image-wise surface of a hot roll used in a fusing system, squashing of the liquid image being fused to a copy sheet is prevented. The texture on the roller may be cavities, dimples, or gravure-like recesses in the surface. The texture is formed by casting, at least the surface of the roll. The roll surface, during casting, is in contact with a pattern forming surface having the appropriate structure, such as the mating surface of a gravure surface.
