Abstract

A liquid developer unit includes a first developer roller and a second developer roller. An intermediate metering roller is interposed between the first and second developer rollers. A final metering roller is located after the second developer roller. The intermediate metering roller shears off the loose part of the image and meters away the used, depleted toner particles in the liquid developer material. A system of this type may produce more dense images by clearing the development zone of residual space charge and removing any loosely held toner particles from the developed image to enhance development by the second developer roller. The final metering roller removes the excessive liquid carrier from the developed image on the photoconductor.
