Abstract

In copiers with an N-1 input document sequence and copy output at the left end of the machine the copies generally emerge face up and with the bind edge trailing. In the event that the copies are 2-folded it is conventional for the fold to be upwards (see Figure la).

The collation of sets, whether in a sorter, compiler or catch tray, is difficult because the incoming sheet tends to interleave with the previous sheet (see Figure lb).

This proposal suggests folding the sheets downwards to avoid this problem (see Figure lc).
