Abstract

A pair of internal reflectance ADC units of the type described in U. S. Patent No. 4,447,145, are used to measure the accumulation of dirt in an electrophotographic printing machine. One unit is covered with the other unit being uncovered. The output signal from each unit is compared and the difference is proportional to the dirt in that location of the printing machine.
