Abstract

A switch actuating mechanism is mounted on a door (or a cover) to operate a shielded switch in response to movement of the doorkover. The mechanism is illustrated diagramatically in the accompanying drawing, in which the switch is indicated at 1 and the door/cover is indicated at 2. The door/cover 2, which is shown in its closed position, is pivotally mounted at 3 for movement as indicated by the arrow 4. The switch 1 has an operating button 5 surrounded by an upstanding shield 6, and the switch actuating mechanism comprises a plunger 7 which is pivotally mounted at 8 on a bracket 9 on the door/cover 2. The plunger 7 is cut away at one side to form a guide surface 10 and is provided with a resilient tail 11 the end of which is located in, and movable along, a slot 12 in the bracket 9.

The mechanism is illustrated diagramatically in the accompanying drawing, in which the switch is indicated at 1 and the door/cover is indicated at 2. The door/cover 2, which is shown in its closed position, is pivotally mounted at 3 for movement as indicated by the arrow 4. The switch 1 has an operating button 5 surrounded by an upstanding shield 6, and the switch actuating mechanism comprises a plunger 7 which is pivotally mounted at 8 on a bracket 9 on the door/cover 2.
