Abstract

Operators of copier and duplicating machines that have a dedicated duplex tray may from time to time accidentally leave a portion of their job of original single-sided prints in a duplex tray. To prevent this situation, the following machine feature may be useful. An operator is presented with a feature selection icon on an automated user interface that indicates the machine is in a "last original" mode of operation, that is when copies of the next operator original will be directed to the dedicated duplex tray for first side use. This feature may be implemented in the form of a high visibility selection button with a message that instructs the operator to "select here" if the original is to be their last original. Selection of this feature will cause the machine to revert to simplex or single-sided operation for the next operator supplied original. Alternatively, the machine may be programmed to automatically recover or reset when the above mentioned undesired situation is detected.
