Abstract

A woven ozone filter made from carbon containing fibers for use in electrophotographic printers and copies is disclosed. Corotron devices in many electrophotographic machines generate ozone exhaust which may be contained, for example, by filtering. An ozone filter may be prepared by incorporating carbon particles on or into a woven nylon filament fabric. Air flow through the filter may be controlled by filter design or the fabric weave density and thickness.

An ozone filter may be prepared by incorporating carbon particles on or into a woven nylon filament fabric. Air flow through the filter may be controlled by filter design or the fabric weave density and thickness.

Other physical parameters of the filter may be varied to influence filter performance including: fiber density (fibers per square inch); denier (mass per unit length); pile height (distance between backing fabrics); fabric width; fabric length: method of incorporating the carbon (internal, external, laminate); and type of fiber base material.

The filter media may have a variety of other filtration applications beyond ozone containment.
