Abstract

A method for fabricating seamless belts with reinforced edges for use as photoreceptor substrates in electrophotographic printing and copying machines is disclosed. The fabrication method comprises forming, by extrusion, a narrow band of reinforcing plastic material on one or both edges of a rotating cylindrical mold, and then centrifugally casting a belt on the interior of the mold. The method may also be accomplished by film forming the narrow reinforcing bands subsequent to casting the belt. The resulting seamless belt exhibits improved tear resistance and the reinforced edges may serve as a tracking guide.
