The fusing evaluation device consists of a stationary support and test bed where the printed page, that is the test sample, cut to the appropriate size, is placed. A receiver is then placed on top of the test sample. The receiver is made of any material that the sample is expected to encounter during normal handling, for example cardboard stock, sheet metal and the like. The device uses a test surface measuring typically four inches square but may be constructed to any size to accommodate special sample requirements. A weight connected through a lever and an eccentric is lowered into place atop the test sample and the receiver. Both the test bed and the weight are machined very flat and have abrasive paper, conformable rubber sponge or other appropriate material bonded to their surfaces.
