Abstract

Paper fiber pickoff devices for photoreceptor customer replaceable units (CRU) in electrophotographic printing and copying machines are disclosed. Friction retard paper feeders may generate considerable paper fiber debris which may contaminate the photoreceptor and lead to "streaking" copy quality defects. To remedy this potential copy quality problem, conductive plates 1 may be installed into the photoreceptor CRU 2 just before a paper fiber trap 3 that may dislodge paper fibers from the photoreceptor. Paper fiber pickoff removal may be further enhanced with the addition of an erase lamp 4 that discharges the photoreceptor prior to reaching the conductive plates and fiber trap.
