In servicing office equipment and similar machines, it is occasionally necessary to have access to both sides of a door or panel member having hardware components mounted thereon. Accordingly, the present invention is directed at providing such access without the need for customized mounting hardware or hinges to support the panel.

In servicing office equipment and similar machines, it is occasionally necessary to have access to both sides of a door or panel member having hardware components mounted thereon. Accordingly, the present invention is directed at providing such access without the need for customized mounting hardware or hinges to support the panel.

Figure 1 illustrates a typical embodiment for an upper hinge assembly, showing how the assembly is constructed, while Figure 2 illustrates a lower hinge assembly employing an added locking feature, wherein the hinge is shown in the open and locked position. Referring to the figures, stamped sheet metal hinge assembly 12a is generally used as an upper hinge, while hinge assembly 12b is generally used as a lower hinge. In both hinge assemblies, tabs 18a and 18b are inserted through clearance aperture 14a or 14b, respectively, located in cabinet wall 16. The hinges are produced by the stamping and double bending of tabs 18a,b which extend from the edge of sheet metal panel 20.
