Abstract

An orbiting nip sheet control device for use in electrophotographic printing and copying machines is disclosed. A catch tray 1 beneath an orbiting nip 2 receives individual copy sheets 3 and places the sheets into a stack 4. A backstop 5 bearing "one-way grass" (grained fabricate) or alternatively molded ribs prevents stacked or curled copy sheets from sliding up the backstop and potentially interfering with the stacking process. A related sheet transporting apparatus has been disclosed in USPN 4,858,909 issued to Stemmle and a paper "climbing" prevention configuration has been disclosed by Silverberg and Morgan in the Xerox Disclosure Journal, Vol. 10, No. 4, July/August 1985.
