Abstract

An Electronic Subsystem (ESS) using parallel architecture suitable for an electronic copier with extensibility to an electronic printer is disclosed. Parallel image channels are used, wherein each channel contains image compression and decompression capability, as well as a medium for image storage. Multiple pre-processors utilizing parallel image channels can process individual pages of a document concurrently thereby achieving higher performance by means of a parallel architecture.
