Abstract

Improved fuser system safety may be achieved by incorporating a small smoke detector over a fuser housing of electrophotographic printing and copying machines. Any detected smoke or stray fine particulates would trigger a relay which in turn would alert an operator or service personnel to clear the fault and remedy the potentially unsafe condition.
