Abstract

Proposed is a method of implementing single pass duplex in a xerographic processor. After transfer of the first side image, the paper is stripped from the photoreceptor and passed into a low energy fuser roll. As the trail edge of the sheet approaches the fuser nip, the fuser is reversed sending the sheet trail edge first onto the photoreceptor for transfer of the side two image. The sheet is then stripped from the photoreceptor to a standard fuser.

REFERENCES:

U.S. Patent No. 3,672,765 to Altmann discloses an apparatus for making two sided copies from two images on an original. After the images are made on a photoconductive belt, they are toned and one image is transferred to one side of a copy sheet. The copy sheet is then turned over by a reversing mechanism and a second image is transferred to the opposite side of the copy sheet and fused.
