Abstract

Disclosed is a method to perform a two stage classification of toner to remove the fine particle content of a toner sized distribution during a continuous process. The design uses ACUCUT@ type classifiers produced by Micron Powder Systems. As shown in the illustration, an interstage eductor 24 is used to extract the classified toner from a first classifier 20 in the direction of arrow 28. The toner is conveyed by vacuum to the eductor nozzle 24 and then ejected into the classifying zone of a second classifier 22. Air entering a coarse product ejector 34, in the direction of arrow 30, is returned to the tandem classifiers 20 and 22 in the direction generally indicated by arrows 32.
