Abstract

Disclosed is a spots blade bracket article for removably mounting a blade cleaner member to an edge guide assembly of photoreceptor cleaning systems of printing and copying machines. As shown in the figures, edge guides are typically spring loaded and are adjustable for different size photoreceptor belts. The edge guide 1 holds tension roll 2 with a minimum tolerance stackup, that is, the variability of the photoreceptor belt surface to blade, from the blade 3, in doctor mode, to the photoreceptor 4. In this configuration there is little need for a spring loaded mechanism to provide force for the blade. The spots blade bracket 5 may be mounted similar to a dust cover or dirt shield which is used to prevent toner clouding from a developer housing and is easily removed as is needed for photoreceptor replacement and retrofitting of machines. When the spots blade 3 is in close proximity to the tension roll, the tension roll can act as a backup surface so that a backup plate is not necessary. Force is provided by flexing the blade against the photoreceptor surface with, for example, about a 0.9- interference.
