SINGLE SPRING LOADER IDLER (Cont'd)

A single spring loader idler device for use in copysheet paper transport and handling is disclosed. An idler roll assembly 1 comprised of end rolls and shaft 2 has attached midway thereto a spring wire 3 having spring retainer loops 4 at either end and "U" retort 5 for linking the spring 3 to idler shaft 2.

The single spring loader idler enables loading of an idler shaft with an adjustable or interchangeable tensioning spring that may be linked to paper guide hardware without having to employ additional fasteners. The degree of offset between the "U" retort 5 and the loops 4 can be used to determine the load on the idler shaft 2. The single spring loader idler decreases the complexity of loading systems compared to conventional idler loading systems and provides for rapid installation and servicing in field application.
