Disclosed is a waste toner system and method that enables improved compaction or densification of waste toner particles and thereby reduces the frequency of waste removal servicing and/or reduces the size of a waste toner reservoir required to receive the waste toner.

The system 1 is comprised of an input toner auger 2, a one-way hinged door or valve 3 to contain solvent vapors within toner waste bottle or reservoir 4, a remotely controlled solvent atomizer 5 for dispensing atomized solvent droplets into the waste bottle reservoir 4.

The atomized solvent droplets are dispensed at predetermined intervals related to measured quantities of waste toner generated. Droplets contact dry particulate toners in the reservoir 4 causing the toner particles to agglomerate into a reduced size and compacted toner mass 6.
