Abstract

Proposed is a ROS architecture for a single pass highlight color IOT. The architecture comprises a high quality laser diode polygon ROS for black printing and one or more compact LED print bars for limited quality color printing. The black polygon ROS would have the capability to produce uniform black and white halftone pictorials at halftone frequencies of about 120 dots per inch or greater. The compact LED print bar would have the capability to produce uniform tints (ziptones) at 75 spots per inch. Grey writing concepts (2 bitdpixel) could be used with the LED bar to produce good printed or scanned-in text.
