Abstract

A clock-controlled security access option for an electronic printing machine is disclosed. The disclosed option prevents unauthorized after hour access to the printing machine. The printing machine security access option is enabled either locally at the site or from a remote site by specifying the time that the printing machine is available for use. At the times that the printing machine is not available for use, access to the printing machine is denied while the machine remains in a power saver mode. Many different access time periods can be specified, for example, access time periods can be programmed on a weekly basis, enabling machine access only during working hours. This provides an additional level of security to printing machines that require account numbers for access. Thus, individuals illegally learning account numbers will be impeded from using the machine during periods set using the disclosed security access option.
