Abstract

A current problem existing with xerographic copiers deployed in an environment where graphic paste up operations are used is the deposition of airborne particles containing adhesives onto the photoreceptor. Even the slightest deposition of particles cause toner and paper debris to accumulate on the photoreceptor surface. An electrostatic precipitator operates at a high voltage making it ideal for use in a xerographic system since the power source can be provided from the existing corotron supply voltage. The electrostatic precipitator produces less restrictive air flow when compared to a normal filter. Employing an electrostatic precipitator reduces the amount of maintenance currently required for the photoreceptor.
