Abstract

In the xerographic cassette 1 of the Xerox 5046 copier, the toner reclaim system 2,4 transports toner 3 from the cleaner to the developer. In order to move the toner 3 through an angle of go", this reclaim system includes two augers 2,4 set at right angles to one another. An excessive flow of toner 3, as it is diverted through go", leads to a tendancy for the augers 2,4 to stall.

IMPROVED TONER FLOW AT TURN-ROUND FEATURE(Cont'd)

In the xerographic cassette 1 of the Xerox 5046 copier, the toner reclaim system 2,4 transports toner 3 from the cleaner to the developer. In order to move the toner 3 through an angle of go", this reclaim system includes two augers 2,4 set at right angles to one another. An excessive flow of toner 3, as it is diverted through go", leads to a tendancy for the augers 2,4 to stall.

The present invention, shown in Figure 1, proposes a radiused wall section 5 at the junction of the augers 2,4 to enable smooth transport of toner 3. The helixes 6,7 on both augers 2,4 are shaped to suit the radiused wall section 5, and the resulting toner flow is smoother, with a reduced tendancy for agglomeration and jamming.
